In 2006 Calvin Landis
Motorsports had an excellent rebuilding year. We got back to
Victory lane again. The team posted 4 top five finishes, 8 top
ten finishes and finished 6th in points at Knoxville Raceway. My
wife and I would like to thank the crew for all their hard work
and dedication. Our team consists of Cal Landis, Daryl
Steenhoek, Nick Spriggs, Beth Steenhoek , Jeremy Spriggs &
Krestin Spriggs. There is another major part to racing and that
is our sponsors and without them none of this would be possible.
The sponsors are Arizona Race Mart, Steenhoek Realty
Improvements, Sundance Realty, Taoton Home Builders, Beth
Steenhoek, Hoosier Tires, Weld Wheels, Ultra Shield Race
Products, Pro Shocks, Maxim Chassis, Schoenfeld Headers,
Superior Bearing & Supply, and Jay Burns. Thanks everybody for
all your help and support. See you at the races! |

Thanks for your time and patience. See you at the races!

Mike Creech was one of
the greatest sprint car fans there ever was. Unfortunately, on
November 17th, at the age of 55, Mike peacefully passed away.
Mike will be best known as the man who ran the race and won it.
See, many years ago Mike had a heart transplant. He got a new
heart and lived a successful life for many years due to the
heart he received from a very nice donor. Mike loved to go
racing. He traveled all over to watch the 70 car race. He
went to all the tracks in Arizona that raced sprint cars. Other
states he went to were California, New Mexico and of course he
went to Knoxville Raceway. Mike leaves behind two daughters
Pamela & Nicci that he loved so dearly. Mike, we will miss you
buddy. Rest in peace and enjoy the racing up there in heaven. |

On Saturday evening
the 18th of November Knoxville Raceway put on their year ending
banquet. Everybody involved with the banquet did an exceptional
job. I especially liked how they did the year in review on the
big screen for the top 5 drivers in points for both classes. It
showed that Knoxville Raceway is getting very professional in
what they are doing to promote every part of racing. On
Saturday, they reward the teams with lots of awards and prizes.
The CLM team was
awarded 6 free pit passes in 2007 for perfect attendance in
2006. In the drawing, the CLM team was lucky enough to win one
of the two biggest prizes of the night. We won a brand new
Brodix engine block. That is another major improvement
that we have had happen to us in 2006. It really helps this team
get things ready for 2007. I would also like to thank all the
people involved with the KRCO organization for everything they
have done to keep us drivers as safe as possible. See you at the
races! |

Landis tops the 14
second club at the Knoxville Raceway. Landis is the only driver to
time in the the 14 second time bracket on four occasions, as shown on
Knoxville's news page. This is quite an accomplishment for the
Calvin Landis Motorsports team. It shows the speed and
consistency the team had in 2006. |

October

It's the final sprint
car race for the 2006 season at Knoxville Raceway. This race is
a World of Outlaws make-up race due to a rain out earlier this summer.
The
Arizona Race Mart team was ready to perform at its top level on
the cool night of October the 7th. The team started off with
another qualifying lap in the 14's with a time of 14.944 on the
clock. The team had to start 6th in the second
heat and charged forward to a fourth place finish after putting
up a great challenge for third. In the main event, with less
than five laps to go, while running in the top 15, some debris off
the race track knocked a nozzle line loose on the right hand
side of the car and ended the night for the Arizona Race Mart
team. Well this is it for the 2006 race season which has been a
good one for Calvin Landis Motorsports. I hope to see each and
everyone of you at the races in 2007. For all your racing needs

Well, its the final
points race of the 2006 season otherwise known as the season
championship. The ********* Realty Improvements race team
started off the night with a very strong time of 14.997, which
put the team third quick. In the heat race, the team
moved forward to the fifth spot. The ********* Realty
Improvements team charged forward in the feature to finish in
the second position. Having a strong run allowed the *********
Realty Improvements team to finish 6th place in the 2006
point standings. Please remember, for all your real estate
improvements contact ********* Realty improvements. See you at
the races! |

Its time to get back
to racing after the Taoton Home Builders team had an excellent
Nationals. The Taoton Home Builders team started the night off
with a time of 15.316, which put us seventh quick time. In the
heat race, we maintained our 4th starting position. In the
feature, the Taoton Home Builders team came home with a
respectable finish of twelfth. We are currently in seventh place
in the point standings. See you at the races! |

Its time for the final
night of the Knoxville Nationals. After last night's excitement
with the biggest win & payday in Landis's sprint car career,
the
Arizona Race Mart team is ready for another strong performance.
The win last night moved Landis's starting position in the C-Main
to the 11th position. The Arizona Race Mart team moved forward
quickly in the C-Main. In the middle of the 15 lap race, the team
had moved as high as the 5th position. Realizing that only the
top two move on to the next event Landis tried everything
in his power to move forward. While taking drastic measures, the
Arizona Race Mart team slipped back to the 7th position at the
end of the race. All in all this year's Nationals was a huge
success for the Arizona Race Mart team. The team will have a
week off to get ready for the final two point races at
Knoxville. Our next race will be on August 26th. See you at the
races! |

Landis takes Friday
Night show at the Knoxville Nationals! What a night it was for
the Sundance Realty team. It started off with an outside front
row starting position which ended with a run away Victory in the
heat race. Next the Sundance Realty team started on the
pole position for the main event. Landis got the jump at the
start and held on to it for quite a while. In the middle of the
race, while in lapped traffic, Landis lost the lead, only to regain
the lead a few laps later on a restart. After taking the lead
for the second time Landis drove it home to Victory Lane. The
win was Landis' 42nd sprint car win of his career & 2nd win at
Knoxville Raceway. It moved him into a tie for 82nd on the all
time win list at Knoxville Raceway. In 52 years Knoxville
Raceway has only had 174 different winners in their main class.
The Sundance Realty team has come a long way this season. For all
your real estate needs, please contact Sundance Realty by phone
or e-mail.
See you at the races! |

The biggest week of
the year is here. Its the week of the Knoxville Nationals and
the Taoton Home Builders team is ready for the challenge. On
Wednesday night August 9th, sixty-two cars came to display their
talents. The Taoton Home Builders team qualified in a
respectable 24th quick time. In a very tough heat race the team
came home in the 8th position. That meant that we needed to run
the B-Main. The team charged from its 13th starting position to
finish in the 6th position. Although the team didn't make it to
the A-Main we did an excellent job with what was in our control.
The Taoton Home Builders team will be ready for our next race
which should be on Friday Night. If your looking to build a new
house please contact Taoton Home Builders to get the job done.
See you at the races! |

Jay Burns is the first
person to sign up on the fans section of the website. Jay's
help and support will go a long way with the Calvin Landis Motorsports race team. Its
people like Jay that keep sprint car racing alive. Everyone at
CLM would like to thank Jay
for making this team that much stronger. Thanks again Jay!!!! |

The Saturday night
before the Nationals is full of excitement. Its the last chance
you get to figure out what setup you want to run during the
biggest race of the year. The race on August 5th had 43 cars
ready to fly around the race track at high speeds. The *********
Realty Improvements team started off by qualifying 8th quick
time. The team than charged forward from its 5th starting
position to finish a very strong second place in the heat race.
In the Main Event the team came home in a respectable 11th place
finish. The ********* Realty Improvements team is currently in
the seventh position in the Knoxville point standings. We are
hoping to move up in the standings in the final two points races
of the year. Don't forget, for all your household improvements,
please call ********* Realty improvements. See you at the races! |

Its the time of year
when everybody is trying to get up to their peak performance as
the Knoxville Nationals starts in a week and a half. The Arizona
Race Mart team continues to give it their all each and every
week. The team continues to get a little faster every week. On
July 29th the team started off with a nice qualifying position
of 4th fast time. In the heat race the team held its position of
6th place, which was one spot short of a transfer spot. Next the
team had to run the B-Main in which the team won the race and
just checked out on the rest of the field. The Arizona Race Mart
team decided that since we were starting in the 21st position
that this would be a good time to try something different. It
didn't work exactly as we were hoping for but the team did move
forward to finish in the 17th position. The Arizona Race Mart
team would like to thank all the fans for their help and
support. See you at the races! |

July 25, 2006 |
|
The Summer Classic was
another exciting race this season with a huge car count of 51
cars on hand for the July 22nd event. The Taoton Home Builders
team qualified a very strong 6th place. In the heat race the
team moved forward to the fifth position but ended up one spot
short of transferring into the Main Event. The Taoton Home
Builders team had to run the B-main with which it came in
second place with the top four transferring into the Main Event.
In the main event the team started in the 22nd spot and moved
forward to finish in the 14th position. The Taoton Home Builders
team showed that hard work and dedication eventually got them a
nice finish at the end of the night. See you at the races! |
|
July 17, 2006 |
|
The Sundance Realty
racing team showed they were ready to race on this warm summer
night. The race team qualified fast time out of the 31
competitors that showed up for the races on the July 15th. In
the first 410 heat race of the night, the team charged from the
fourth starting position to finish a very strong 2nd place. In
the Main Event the team started in the 6th position and finished
5th in a hard fought, rubber down situation. The track surface
was really competitive all night, except for the 410 feature.
Knoxville is trying to improve the racing any way they can. They
tried to put less water down so they could see how the new tire
rule is helping things out. In the end we had a rubber down
situation for the final race of the night. I realize how lucky
we have it at Knoxville Raceway and how hard they are trying to
make racing better at the end of the day. This was a learning
experience for everybody. It proved that Knoxville's tire rule
is working but at the same time it also showed that they still
need to go a little bit harder like they had originally planned
on.
The Sundance Realty racing team has moved into 6th place in
the Knoxville Raceway point standings. I would like to thank all
the Fans and Sponsors for all their help and support. See you at
the races! |

It is with sadness
that Calvin Landis Motorsports announces that it's biggest fan
has recently passed away. The man that introduced racing
into the family that started this business passed away
peacefully during his sleep earlier this week at the age of 87.
"Judge," as he
is known to his friends, started taking his children to the
races at a young age, and they were just as hooked as he was
from that point on. When Calvin was young, his
father, Cal, purchased a sprint car, and ran it for many years.
When the car wasn't out on the track racing, Calvin would be in
the garage running that car more laps than it was ever run on
the track. When the car was on the track, Judge would load
up the family in the motorhome and head out to watch an exciting
night of racing with the Landis clan.
Several years later,
Calvin purchased his first car and with it came his biggest fan
ever. Judge was at every race that was nearby, and
occasionally would travel to see his young grandson race.
Once Calvin started traveling more to race, Judge would get
really excited the times that Calvin was back in town to run a
race or two.
Although he wouldn't
admit it, Judge is the reason that Calvin Landis Motorsports is
here today and the reason that there are a few more sprint car
fans out there. Any time that was mentioned, Judge just
sat back with a small grin and said that he was being given too
much credit.
Judge has gone to be
with Lillian, his wife of 65 years, whom he so dearly missed.
It is with heavy hearts that we bid him farewell and say, "We
love you and we will miss you, Grandpa." |

July 4, 2006 |
|
The 1st of July had a
another strong car count of thirty 410 sprint cars at Knoxville
Raceway. The Arizona Race Mart team was ready for another strong
challenge and they started things off strong by qualifying with
a time of 15.179 which put us in the fourth position. In the
heat race we had another strong performance and came home in the
fourth position with the top six moving on to the Main Event. In
the Main Event the team was in a heated battle back and forth
throughout the entire race. The Arizona Race Mart team finished
the Main Event with a fifth place finish. The team has currently
moved into 9th place in the point standings at Knoxville
Raceway. Next week is a big night for us because it is Twin
Features night. A lot can happen in one night of racing in the
point standings on Twin Feature night. Hope to see you at the
races. Don't forget to stop by our pit area after the races. |
|
June 29, 2006 |
|
On the 23rd of June
Knoxville Raceway had an exceptional car count of 46 cars with
the WOO in town. The ********* Realty Improvements team
qualified 17th quick with a time of 15.317 which was good enough
to make the inversion for the heat race. In the heat race we
started on the outside of the front row and the pole sitter got
the jump on us at the start. After running in the second
position for about five laps we eventually made the pass for the
lead and went on to win the heat race. In the Main Event the
team was consistent and battled hard in the middle of a dog
fight and came home with a strong 17th place finish. Every week
this team gets a little bit better. The formula for a winning
team is coming together very fast. Hope to see you at the races.
Don't forget to come down to our pits after the races. |

Knoxville Raceway had
another strong car count for the 410 class of 31 cars on June
17th. The CLM team timed in with a time of 15.317 which put us
seventh quick time. In the heat race we got a bad start and fell
back to eighth place. The team raced their way back into a
transfer spot and came home in the sixth position. In the Main
Event the CLM team was very strong. We started in the seventh
position as the inversion draw was a six. The team raced up to
the fourth position before the red came out but the officials
said the lap wasn't completed and put us back to the fifth
position. Again the restart didn't go our way as we fell back to
the seventh position. The CLM team continued to charge and
finished a very strong sixth place in the Main Event. The race
team is currently in 11th place in the point standings at
Knoxville Raceway. See you at the races. |
|
June 7, 2006 |
|
For the first race in
June, Knoxville Raceway had twenty-nine 410 cars. The CLM team
qualified 8th quick time and finished 2nd in the heat race.
Shortly after the heat races finished it started raining. The
remaining races had to be run on Sunday night. The CLM team had
a commanding lead for 17 laps until the left rear tire popped
exiting turn four. The tire had a bad vibration early on. The
tire problem had nothing to do with the new tire rules. I
personally think the new tire rules are great. I think that it
will make the racing even better in the future too. After
changing the tire we charged back up to 14th place in the last
three laps. The team remained in 11th place in the points
standings. I'm so proud of how well my team is performing right
now. As soon as we get a little luck on our side, we will be in
VICTORY LANE. See you at the races. |
|
May 31, 2006 |
|
On Saturday night May
27th Knoxville Raceway had twenty-nine 410 cars on hand. The CLM
team qualified 2nd quick time and finished sixth in the heat to
transfer to the A-main. While running in sixth and putting
plenty of pressure on the top five cars we had a bad slide job
pulled on us and ended upside down in turn two. The unfortunate
crash ended our night with a finish of 18th place. We are
currently 11th place in the point standings as of now. The CLM
team is getting better every week. Its just a matter of time
before we end up in VICTORY LANE. Thanks for everyone's help and
support. See you at the races. |

Its starting to warm
up at Knoxville Raceway both on and off the track. It started
off with a nice warm day and ended with a hot night of racing.
There were twenty-nine cars on hand for Saturday, May 20th.
Our team set quick time with a 15.293 in qualifying. We ran 5th
place in our heat race. In the Main Event we came home with a
real nice run of 7th place. After having a slow start on opening
night which put the the CLM # 70 in 29th in the points
standings, the team has rebounded very strong and has currently
moved into 10th place in the standings as of Saturday night.
Hopefully we are just around the corner from being in the top
five in the points. Thanks to all the fans for your
support at the races. Without your support we wouldn't be
racing. See you at the races. |

May 17, 2006 |
|
On May 13th Knoxville Raceway had another strong car count of 51
cars on hand. We had another strong qualifying time of 14.998
which put us third quick time. While running in second place and
looking at the white flag the kill switch went bad and caused us
another DNF in the heat race while in a transfer position. We
used a 4th place finish in the B-main to transfer to the A-main. We
started 24th in the A-main and made a strong run up to 14th in
the A-main. We are now in 13th place in the point standings at
Knoxville. Well, I hope to see you at the races. |
|
May 9, 2006 |
|
There were forty-six 410's at Knoxville Raceway on May 6th. The
track was extremely fast as 26 cars were under the old track
record. We were one of those cars as we clocked in with an
amazing time of 14.789 that put us 13th quick time. In the heat
race we finished in third place. For the main event we came home
in a respectable 21st place. The team is getting better every
time we race. Its only a matter of time before we start
finishing in the top 5 on a regular basis and winning races.
Hope to see you at Knoxville this weekend for another exciting
night of racing as its the IRA vs. Knoxville Shootout. |

postponed. They have rescheduled the event for October 7th. |

April 27, 2006 |
|
Its finally here, the opening night of our race season. There
were thirty-nine 410 cars on hand and we qualified 16th fast with a
time of 16.055. It was a good start to the race season. Next up for
us was our heat race. We were in the fourth and final heat race
of the night. While running in third place which was a transfer
spot our oil filter managed to back off and completely cover
everything in oil in a matter of seconds. The team worked well under
this unfortunate situation. They found the problem and fixed it
quickly. The next task at hand was to remove all the oil off the
motor and inside the cock pit. Then with no time left to make
changes to the car, it was time to run the B-Main where we
managed to come home in 7th place. This is not what we had
planned to start the season out with, but I'm very proud of how
well the team worked together in this tough situation. Hopefully
next week will be better. |
|
April 19, 2006 |

After having a long off season of over
seven months with no racing the Calvin Landis Motorsports team
was back at the track on April 15th. The team got to run
two practice sessions to try and knock off some of the rust before the
race season. The team's first scheduled race is for April 22nd at
Knoxville Raceway. The night ended well and we are ready for a
successful 2006 race season. |

Dave Argabright is my new hero. In his article in
SprintCar & Midget he tells the
truth about sprint car racing today. You must read his article.
He talks about how the cost of racing has gotten to be so
expensive. It wasn't like that in the 1980's, or even in
the 1990's. Finally, someone is telling the truth.
The World of Outlaws
have released their rules.
Check them out here. I like the
tire width and height rules. It's great to see a limit of
3" set on the infection bore, but I like the no fuel stop rule
the best. |
|
January 17, 2006 |
|
The AllStars have
announced their rule changes. They have moved the ignition
boxes back into the engine compartment. There will be no
provisionals and no more fuel stops. These rules should
make the racing better for the fans. I still wish
everybody would go to a one engine a night rule. |

We would like to wish
my brother David a Happy 30th Birthday today! Today is also
special because David is getting married to his long time
girlfriend, Amber, in Hawaii. They are getting married on

time, so around 10:09 p.m. Iowa time. We would like to wish you
both a lot of joy and happiness in your lives. Congratulations!!
We would also like to
let you know that we have added some more pictures to our
pictures page, courtesy of David Hill. Check them out!
Thanks David!! |

The World of Outlaws released their schedule with nearly 70
events and more to be announced. The World of Outlaws are
racing at the greatest dirt racing facilities in the United
States. The teams will be chasing a share of nearly 6
million dollars during the year. Again, it's great to see
that they are paying the top 20 drivers in the points fund.
The more teams out there racing, the better it is for racing
overall. |
